Tabuk Vegetable Souk
The fruit and vegetables always appeared immaculate, without a blemish and each piece individually polished and almost artistically presented. The stall holders were very friendly, they did not shout there wares as happens in English markets and there did not seem to be any competition between stalls. There was no objection to photographs being taken or video being shot. We were even pursued by some sellers because they thought they were going to be missed. Only one stall holder was reluctant to have his photograph taken but his friends persuaded him to pose. When my wife run out of film she received a round of applause. When we returned with prints to hand out we were inundated with free water melons. My wife took these photographs in 1994. To see the full set of images click on the photograph at the top of the page.
